Morning Glories in 2003
*Following flowers are my morning glories in 2003.
Ipomoea coccinea 'Yellow Star'
This flower is Ipomoea coccinea.
Normal flowers are red, but this strain show pretty yellow flowers.
Diameter of this small flower is about 2cm.
Ipomoea nil :African strain
"Yojiro"(Ray white) type morning glories were developed by Dr. Yoneda from hybrid between Ipomoea nil (African type) and I. purpurea.
So, this African type is important flower. But it is late-flowering strain and difficult to look flower in Japan.

Ipomoea obscura 'Danjuro'
'Danjuro' is a large-flowered strain and named from famous Kabuki actor
in the EDO period.
He weared brown stage costume in a hereditary play.
Japanese gardeners love these sober colors.
